All players must wear a certified football helmet. Helmets are required to be white; facemask color is optional.
A mouth guard that is securely attached to the helmet is mandatory. Mouth guards must be worn and readily available anytime a player is wearing a helmet, regardless of whether contact is occurring. In addition to protecting teeth, mouth guards are an important tool in reducing the risk of concussions. We strongly recommend that families keep at least one spare mouth guard on hand. Players will not be permitted to practice or play in games without one.
Players with braces or special orthodontic needs may use a specialty mouth guard that is not attached to the helmet, provided a note from a dentist or orthodontist is submitted.
Properly fitted, football-approved shoulder pads are also required. Lacrosse or hockey shoulder pads are not permitted under any circumstances. Pads that are too small or too large can increase the risk of injury, so correct sizing is essential. Players may not substitute undersized or improper shoulder pads for any reason, including attempting to meet weight requirements.
All athletes must wear football cleats that are free of any metal components.
Additional protective gear and equipment options are available. We encourage families to consult a reputable sporting goods store to ensure all equipment fits properly and functions safely.
