PROGRAM INFORMATION

The South Christian Youth Football Program is based in Byron Center. We offer tackle football for students beginning in 3rd grade through the completion of their 8th-grade season. Participation is open to all eligible athletes; attending a Christian school is not required.

Our 3rd–6th grade teams compete in the West Michigan Junior Football League, while our 7th and 8th grade teams play in the Big Ten Conference Football League.

Our mission is to develop Christian young men who have a strong passion for football, especially South Christian football. We are committed to providing a safe, positive, and enjoyable environment where athletes can learn the skills and concepts needed to succeed on the field—while also building character and values that lead to success in life. 

Goals

• Our top priority is having fun—we consider the season a success if players enjoy the game so much that they’re excited to return next year.
   
• Emphasize player safety by teaching proper techniques, including Heads Up / Hawk Tackling.
   
• Build a strong foundation in football fundamentals from an early age.
   
• Provide positive role models through dedicated, high-quality coaching.
   
• Develop leadership skills and strong teammates, recognizing that football is the ultimate team sport.
   
• Encourage one another as we grow into strong Christian young men.
   
• Establish a solid foundation for future varsity football players.
   
• Commit to weekly improvement by working harder than our opponents, executing at a high level, and learning what it takes to win.
   
• Represent the South Christian name with pride and dignity.
